Anthony Kidona Doria, I have written this article in response to your publications. I acknowledge that this matter is a national issue that necessitates our perspective. As an organization, we may address it differently.

Introduction

Gang violence in South Sudan did not emerge in a vacuum. It has thrived under the leadership of both SPLM-IG and SPLM-IO—two factions overly focused on protecting power rather than safeguarding citizens. While they concentrate on dividing positions, gangs are dividing communities, claiming the lives of our youth, and destroying the future of this nation.

If the United Labour Party of South Sudan (ULPOSS) were in power, our approach would be comprehensive, not superficial. It would be structural, economic, and revolutionary.

  1. We would address the roots, not merely the symptoms.
Gang violence is fueled by poverty, unemployment, and the collapse of law enforcement. ULPOSS would prioritize economic transformation by creating genuine employment opportunities through agriculture, infrastructure development, and vocational programs targeting unemployed youth.
  2. We would allocate public funds effectively—not for personal enrichment.
Billions are embezzled annually under the SPLM-led government, while young people are lured into violence. ULPOSS would redirect resources toward community development and peacebuilding initiatives, rather than corrupt networks.
  3. We would treat insecurity as an economic crisis.
Investors will not engage with a country where violence prevails over the rule of law. By eliminating gangs and restoring order, we would create an environment conducive to sustainable investment and national prosperity.
  4. We would hold those in power accountable.
No warlord, minister, or general would be above the law under a ULPOSS government. The culture of impunity must be eradicated to ensure the nation’s survival.

Enough is enough. South Sudan deserves leadership that prioritizes human life over loyalty, peace over politics, and justice over tribalism. That leadership is ULPOSS.
