THE Leader of ULPOSS Ernest Ogwaro Calls for Urgent Action on Ongoing Corruption Scandals

JUBA, South Sudan — The leader of United Labour Party of South Sudan (ULPOSS) Ernest Ogwaro expresses deep concern over the latest corruption allegations involving the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA), where more than $2 million in public funds are reported to have been withdrawn under unclear circumstances.

This is not an isolated incident. It reflects a pattern that has persisted since independence—one where public resources are repeatedly mismanaged while citizens continue to face economic hardship.

As an opposition party, The leader of ULPOSS believes the people of South Sudan deserve better. We call for a fully independent and transparent investigation into these allegations, free from political interference. Those implicated—regardless of rank or position—must be held accountable through a fair and open legal process.

We further urge the government to take immediate, practical steps to prevent such abuses from continuing. These include ending large cash withdrawals in public institutions, strengthening financial oversight systems, enforcing mandatory asset declarations for senior officials, and ensuring protection for whistleblowers who expose corruption.

ULPOSS also calls for regular public updates on the progress of investigations. Accountability cannot happen behind closed doors. The people have a right to know how their resources are being managed.

This is a defining moment for our country. Continued inaction will only deepen public mistrust and economic instability. Real leadership requires more than statements—it requires the political will to enforce change.

ULPOSS stands ready to support genuine reform efforts that promote transparency, accountability, and responsible governance for all citizens of South Sudan.
