It is with deep sadness that I received the news of the tragic incident on 28/05/2025, where seven immigrants of African descent lost their lives off the coast of the Canary Islands.
My sincere condolences go to the families who lost their loved ones. May their souls rest in peace.
I strongly condemn the actions of the coastal guard. Had they acted with greater care, this tragedy could have been avoided.
I also believe that if African leaders did more to improve the lives of their citizens, such desperate journeys would not be necessary. This incident could have been prevented if better opportunities and conditions existed at home
